Amidst the hullabaloo of 50 Top Pizza’s latest ranking of what it deems the best pizzerias in the U.S.—that list was released on July 1—a lesser known category gave bragging rights to an additional 14 outstanding pizzerias. After all, some guests just drop in for a slice, not a whole pie.

L’Industrie Pizzeria in Brooklyn claimed the highest honor in the 50 Top Pizza Slice USA list for 2025, with Slice & Pie in Washington D.C. taking the No. 2 spot, followed by Taglio in Mineola, New York (No. 3); Mama’s Too in New York City (No. 4); and Brooklyn DOP (No. 5) in Brooklyn.

Massimo Laveglia’s L’Industrie Pizzeria has been a mainstay on the pizza community’s best-of list for years now, and Laveglia makes no bones about his specialty: “We’re not a restaurant…we’re a slice spot,” he once told Eater New York. His success is more remarkable considering that, when he opened L’Industrie in 2017, as he explained to Bon Appétit last year, “I’d never made pizza before in my life. It was a learning process.”

Nonetheless, 50 Top Pizza described his Margherita slice as “simple and well-executed, with intense tomato sauce and stringy mozzarella.” L’Industrie’s Prosciutto & Burrata is “tasty and well-balanced, with fresh and creamy burrata,” while the classic Pepperoni is “flavorful…with a pleasant spiciness balance.”

Over at No. 2 Slice & Pie, Italy-born master pizzaiolo Giulio Adriana “has been perfecting the most loved tricolor dish in the world for over 30 years with an American twist,” according to 50 Top Pizza. “The slice starts from a leavened dough, rolled out and cooked with great skill. The result is a tasty wedge with a greedy and flavorful bite.”

Tommy Ardito, owner of No. 5 Brooklyn DOP, serves up a Margherita slice that boasts “a high and airy crust, fragrant and light, and a harmonious overall flavor, with a pleasant salty note that enhances the quality of the ingredients,” 50 Top Pizza’s inspectors reported.

Representing the American South was St. Pizza in New Orleans at No. 11, where the pizza is “filled with good products, especially well-balanced cheeses and cured meats.” It all “starts with a thin, rolled-out dough, which comes out of the oven nice and crunchy and is gladly eaten.”

Ranked No. 14, Rosalee’s Pizzeria, located in Longmont, Colorado, can be summed up with a single word, according to 50 Top Pizza, and that word is “vibrant.”

“This is how you can define the pizza, the service staff, the mood of the place where music is often played. Everything here exudes joy and happiness in preparing and serving a slice made with passion and loved by customers who always come back with pleasure. The crust is perfectly cooked, with an ideal balance between crispiness and softness.”
