WA’s Best Traditional Pizza Winner

The verdict is in and last Friday morning saw Brendan Spencer from K.I.S.S. Pizza in
Marmion become this year’s victor in the Traditional Category of the WA State Final of
The Dairy Farmers Best of the Best Pizza Challenge.
In this, the tenth anniversary year of the Dairy Farmers Best of the Best Pizza Challenge, the
competition format has expanded to include two different categories. First up, five
competitors cooked off to find the best traditional pizza maker, and then a different group
competed to find the best gourmet pizza maker in the state.
The other Traditional Category finalists were:
• Andrew Round – Zanzi Pizza Bar, Willeton
• Brett Burley – McKenzies Premier Take Away, Mindarie
• David Infirri – Vesbar Mobile Pizza Bar, Nollamurra
• Charlie George – Midland Gourmet Pizza Bar, South Guilford
Winners for the best pizzas in the tradtional competition’s various sub -categories were;
• Best Cheese Pizza – Brendan Spencer
• Best Smallgoods Pizza – David Infirri
• Best Specialty Pizza – Brett Burley
Brendan will now compete in the National Finals to be held in Sydney in September at Fine
Food Australia to see if he can become the overall Australian winner.
The pizzas were all judged by a panel of three professional cooks on a range of elements
including originality, creativity, menu balance, use of ingredients and total appeal.
