For the past two years Three Brothers and the International Federation Of Competitive Eating (www.ifoce.com) have sanctioned and presented the “Three Brothers International Pizza Eating Championship”. This event has drawn crowds of up to 1,500 people. The competition is normally held in August in collaboration with The Three Brothers Annual Anniversary celebration. However, this year’s competition will be held in May, nearly a full three months earlier to involve and raise funds for local schools.
The competition will feature some of the IFOCE’s most talented eaters. Two time world pizza eating champion Patrick Bertoletti (ranked #2) will be the man to beat. He holds the world record for the event, consuming 22 slices of a Three Brothers 16″ Neapolitan pizza in 10 minutes. Other competitors include Timothy “Eater X” Janus (ranked #4), “Humble” Bob Shoudt (ranked #5), Virginia local Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas (ranked #6), 2006 Three Brothers Amateur event winner (now professional) Juliet Lee, and 13 other professional eaters.
In the past the under card event featured local amateurs from the community. However, this year Three Brothers is replacing the event and will be presenting the “First Annual Three Brothers Pizza High School Pizza Eating Championship” featuring two local schools from Prince George’s County, Maryland. The featured schools are St. Vincent Pallotti High School from Laurel, and DeMatha High School based in Hyattsville. The winner of the amateur event will win the $4,000.00 first place prize. Second place will take home $2,000.00. The prize money will benefit special athletic and academic programs for each school. Other local schools will also be involved by hosting fun games, selling merchandise, and raising funds for their schools through the Three Brothers Fund-raising program.
Pizza Acrobatics is back! Performed by world famous Joe Carlucci & Siler Chapman. Both are members of the “World Pizza Champions” ( www.worldpizzachampions.com) and have been featured on Oprah, The Today Show, The Tonight Show, ESPN, Food Network, Rachel Ray and countless other venues and shows. Their performance feature amazing pizza tossing demonstrations and acrobatics, a definite crowd favorite.
Both IFOCE competitors and the World Pizza Champions will host a meet & greet Picture/Autograph session at Three Brothers Italian Restaurant in greenbelt for their fans. All proceeds made from merchandise sales will be donated to local charities and non-profit organizations.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday May 31, 2008, we predict that a crowd of over 2,000 people will attend. Attached is our flyer that has a list and schedule of all the days activities. Our goal is to host a fun and entertaining event that will bring the community together and to raise funds for local schools & charities.
