Pizza-Making Marathon Raises Money for Diabetes Research
A 24-hour pizza-making marathon raised nearly $8,000 for diabetes research at Anna’s Pizza & Pasta in Winnebago, Illinois this past weekend. Co-owners Brian and Stacy Weavel brainstormed the fundraiser after their 11-year-old son, Alec, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last year. Weavel and employee Zach Brierton worked the ovens from noon on Saturday through noon the next day, drawing coverage from media outlets like WIFR-TV and the Rockford Register Star.
