Fonts Matter

"Research has shown that, when information is difficult to process, it affects people's judgment," says Jay Siff of Moving Targets. "It's called the 'fluency effect.' People prefer things that are easy to think about. In one study, when an easy-to-read font was used, 17% of people postponed their buying decision. When the same information was presented in a difficult-to-read font, 41% postponed their decision. Make sure you use easy-to-read fonts in your marketing materials."

Bostonians Comforted with Random Acts of Pizza

In times of crisis, a little pizza can bring a lot of comfort. After last week's attack on the Boston Marathon, members of Random Acts of Pizza, part of the online Reddit.com community, started ordering pizzas for the Boston police, firefighters and hospital workers working hard to save lives and keep the peace. Before long, hundreds of people from around the country had joined the cause, with Anytime Pizza in Cambridge leading the way.

Now in drawdown mode, the Army has cut back on cooked breakfasts for some soldiers, so Mellow Mushroom urged customers to drop off items-such as protein shakes, cereal bars, muscle milk and other non-perishable breakfast foods-in return for a 15% discount on their bill.
