Michael Chong, of The Rock, Wood Fired Pizza’s Covington location, is on his way to Orlando. As the winner of The Rock’s Freestyle Pizza Tossing Competition, Chong has earned the opportunity to compete once again, this time for a spot on the US Pizza Team.

KZOK, a popular Seattle radio station, provided the venue for the competition at their outdoor music festival ZOK Stock. Pizza cooks from The Rock’s 10 locations battled against one another for the title. After two rounds of quick hands and dazzling tricks, Chong was voted the winner.

The next step for Michael will be a trip to Florida this September where he will attend The Orlando Pizza Show. Fellow Rock employee Hayes Weir will accompany Chong to Florida as runner up. The two Rock winners will compete in a field of 30 cooks from around the country who will be vying for a spot on the US Pizza Team, a freestyle dough tossing team.

The US Pizza Team is sponsored by PMQ Pizza Magazine, and travels to compete worldwide, including a trip to Rome, Italy.
