The 2007 Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show Opens This Weekend

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ — Starting this Friday, September 7th, the table will be set for a feast of opportunities at the 2007 Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show — the event that caters to the specific needs of the Southeast foodservice industry.  Thousands of industry professionals are expected to demo, touch, taste, smell, compare and source all the latest products and services required to run a successful foodservice business. This annual event will be held September 7-9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. There are dozens of story ideas; here are some of the highlights:

— Attend the launch of the Ferdinand Metz Foodservice Forum with industry experts handpicked by Ferdinand Metz, Master Chef and former head of the Culinary Institute of America for more than 20 years. These sessions will give restaurant professionals the keys to all aspects of a successful foodservice business, help uncover hot new trends, increase revenue, loyalty and operational excellence, lower costs, minimize turnover while building winning teams, deliver optimal customer experience, enhance menu, cuisine and profits, minimize risk and legal issues and boost beverage earnings.

— PMQ’S Orlando Pizza Show will once again host the annual U.S. Pizza Team Trials Competition where pizza dough spinning acrobats compete for a spot on the U.S. Pizza Team.  Each year the U.S. Pizza Team selects America’s best pizza makers and pizza acrobats to represent the nation’s pizza industry in the World Pizza championships in Salsomaggiore, Italy.

— Experience the finest cuisine and food preparation techniques at the World Class Culinary Competitions.  Watch as skilled chefs showcase their talents in a variety of cooking and pastry contests throughout the three days of the Show.

— The Ultimate Barista Challenge is back at the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show.  Come watch as professional barista face challengers on the exhibition floor where they prepare their signature espresso beverages for a panel of discerning judges.  There will be a showdown of three flights of espresso frappe, espresso cocktails and beautiful cafe latte art.

— Be the first to discover the hottest new foods and beverages to hit the market at the Innovative New Product Gallery.  Attendees will be able to view new products in the gallery and throughout the exhibition floor each day of the Show.

— Savor a four-course lunch at the Chef’s Table Luncheon beginning at 12:30 pm on Friday and continuing through Sunday.  Attendees will have lunch prepared by the best chefs in America served right on the Show floor.  Tickets are $35 each day and can be purchased on-site.

— Former White House Executive Chef, Walter Scheib, and Ralph Brennan, Owner of the Brennan Restaurant Group will both be keynote speakers during the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show.  Walter Scheib, “The American Chef” will discuss “Serving at the Pleasure of the Presidents” on Friday, September 7 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm.  Scheib was White House Executive Chef for two of America’s First Families and has dazzled and delighted world leaders, congressional members, journalists and other House visitors.  New Orleans restaurant legend Ralph Brennan will speak on Saturday, September 8 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm presenting “Rising Tide: The Rebirth of the New Orleans Restaurant and Foodservice Industry.”
