On The Menu: All New Gourmet Pizzas, Salads and Shakey’s Famous Chicken and Mojo®s
Fried in Trans Fat-Free Oil

ALHAMBRA, CA (April 24, 2007) – Shakey’s USA today announced the grand re-opening of four newly remodeled restaurants in the Los Angeles county area reflecting Shakey’s refreshed fast casual family dining concept. The Alhambra, Hollywood-Sunset, Pico Rivera and Huntington Park restaurants will receive an extreme makeover as part of CEO Tim Pulido’s five-year plan to shake up and revitalize the nostalgic heritage of the Shakey’s brand.

Construction on the Alhambra store was complete April 1, 2007. Alhambra’s grand re-opening event is set for April 26, 2007. Hollywood-Sunset will complete refurbishments May 1, 2007, and Pico Rivera and Huntington Park before the end of July. By 2008 Pulido plans to have remodeled all remaining corporate stores, 15 franchise stores, and develop 12 additional new stores in Southern California and other select markets.

“The remodel is just beautiful,” said Lorena Estrada, General Manager, Shakey’s Alhambra. “The brand new décor is quite a departure from the old. New and returning guests are singing their approval with resounding ‘Wows’”

The new and emboldened Shakey’s Pizza Parlor is making it even easier for busy families to reconnect with each other in an environment that offers something for everyone – great food at affordable prices, a comfortable unhurried atmosphere conducive to couples, families or large groups, and entertainment options that include flat screen TVs and a dedicated arcade for the kids. Shakey’s Pizza Parlor’s refreshed, contemporary atmosphere lets guests savor new gourmet pizzas, hearty salads and Firestone Micro-brew beers, or they can recapture the memories of their youth with Shakey’s classic pizza, fried chicken and Mojo potatoes – but with zero trans fat!

Shakey’s is demonstrating its health-conscious leadership in the fast casual category by being among the first to adopt legislature that bans cooking with trans fat oils in Los Angeles area kitchens.

“Shakey’s is very much in tune with the changing culture of ‘family time’ and understands that families today seem to have less and less of it every day,” said Tim Pulido, CEO, Shakey’s USA. “And while we’re excited about our all new premium ingredients, we’re even more thrilled to offer lighter, healthier alternatives like salad and trans fat-free fried foods, adding even more value to family meal time.”

Shakey’s Alhambra is located at 2234 W. Valley Blvd., Alhambra, CA 91803. A live Dixieland band will usher in the new era with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 pm. Kids will also receive free fire hats and balloons in honor of Shakey’s new Firehouse pizza. Every Friday from April 20 – June 22, one dollar of every Firehouse Pizza sale will be donated to the LAFD to support ongoing community outreach and education programs for the prevention of fire fatalities in the home.
