According to the Miami Herald, “Alexander Gordon, a junior at Nova High School in Davie, is a sports aficionado who loves playing basketball at school.”

“But last month, he did something off the court that earned him a $1,000 scholarship: He made pizza. Alexander, 17, won the It’s Vegalicious! recipe contest for Broward high school students run by Sublime restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.`This is my first scholarship,’ he said. `I honestly didn’t think I was going to win. I was astonished when they told me I won.’ Sublime owner and vegan Nanci Alexander created the contest to promote healthy eating habits among students.”
