Austin, Texas – Steven Saccone, owner of Saccone’s Pizza’s & Subs, Leander, Texas, was named the winner of the First Annaul “Best of the Southwest” Pizza Competition, which was held at the 2008 Southwest Foodservice Expo in Houston, Texas.  Produced by the Texas Restaurant Association, the Expo is the largest foodservice tradeshow in the region.

“I’ve competed in competitions across the country, and consider it a big honor to have won here in Texas.” stated Saccone.  Saccone’s winning entry was a Spicy Italian Pie, which will appear on his menu this fall to coincide with the re-opening of the Saccone’s Anderson Mill store in it’s new location at the Shops at Volente near the intersection of RR 620 and Anderson Mill Rd.

Saccone will now compete in the America’s Plate Pizza Championship this coming September in Orlando, FL (www.orlandopizzashow.com). The Best of the Southwest Pizza Competition was sanctioned by PMQ’s Pizza Magazine.

Southwest Foodservice Expo
