Short’s Brewing Company, Northern Michigan’s largest craft brewery, will participate in the ninth American Craft Beer Week from May 12-18th. To celebrate the hard work and success of American Craft Breweries, Short’s is holding two events at their Bellaire Brewpub and producing a Tribute to Craft Beer episode on their weekly podcast, Short’s Cast.

"It's pretty awesome to have a passion turn into a company that benefits my home community in Northern Michigan. American Craft Beer Week celebrates the culture of craft beer and every brewer that followed their passion and the community that supported them,” said Joe Short, founder and CEO of Short’s.

On Tuesday, May 13th, the Short’s Brewpub is hosting their first ever Craft Beer 101 for the public, led by Head Beer Liberator Jon Wojtowicz. The event will dive into beer ingredients, a brief history of beer, the process of brewing, and understanding beer flavors. Tickets are $5 and will include four samples of Short’s beer.

On Thursday, May 15th, Short’s Head Chef, Mark MacNaughton, is featuring a self-guided food and beer pairing appetizer special. The special will include five bite-sized appetizers and five beer samples. A Greek sausage, White Fish pâté, braised short rib, lobster mac n’ cheese, and caramel corn are on the menu. This special will demonstrate the power of pairing food and beer and how it enhances their individual flavors.

In addition to the pub events, Short’s podcast, Short’s Cast, is airing a “Tribute to Craft Beer” episode Tuesday, May 13th. The episode will welcome Jim Koch, Founder of Boston Beer Company, Julia Hertz, publisher of craftbeer.com and Craft Beer Program Director at the Brewers Association, and Short’s very own Joe Short and Jon Wojtowicz to chat about the history of craft beer in America.
