“After more than 50 years in business, Saturday marked the final day of Richard Blitvich’s tenure as the owner of Sammy’s Pizza,” according to the St. Cloud Times.

“For those who have worked at or eaten at the restaurant since it opened in 1956, Saturday’s milestone was hard to swallow.

“We just love Sammy’s,” Lynn Orcutt of St. Joe said. “We’ve had two children that have worked here and a son-in-law that worked here for years. We just couldn’t let this day pass without getting pizza.”

On Saturday, Orcutt, her husband, Brian, their children and some extended family were among many to partake in a final meal at Blitvich’s restaurant.

“Every time I come here it’s like coming home,” Kent Grove, who worked at the restaurant for 12 years, said. “It’s a piece of St. Cloud history.”
