According to a news report from dailyherald.com, “The temperatures may have been bitterly cold, but Mauri’s Famous Pizza & Cafe in Mundelein provided some Christmas warmth Sunday.”

“Owner Homar Perez said one of the customers dressed up like Santa Claus and handed out toys to the children visiting the restaurant,” said the story. “We decided to tell (customers) thank you for every time they come to the restaurant,” Perez said. He estimated 120 people visited the restaurant Sunday. The children there received small toys, including Barbie dolls, plastic soldiers and toy cars.”
