Pizza comes in many shapes – the triangle slice, the square Sicilian, and the round Neapolitan – but Washington, D.C.-based  &pizza takes the cake with its oblong pies.  The pies are so unique that a company took notice and said, “Hey, that looks like a skateboard.”

MSCHF Internet Studios, whose motto says “We create Internet for the Internet,” reached out to &pizza, a cutting-edge pizzeria chain with rollerblading ambassadors, for an unforgettable project: encasing pizza within a transparent skateboard.

“The board took a full month to build,” said Vanessa Rodriguez, Head of Brand for &pizza. “We went through a lot of trial and error to dry and preserve the pie perfectly before casting in resin.”

The winsome pie featured in the skateboard is the pizzeria’s most popular order: The OG, featuring classic tomato, mozzarella, olive oil, and basil. The skateboard is one of a kind, never to be replicated by &pizza.

Rodriguez said the lengthy and downright gross process of embedding the pizza in the skateboard was “worth the trouble to give someone the chance to ride around on their favorite pie.”

Customers can follow &pizza on Instagram for a chance to win it in a free giveaway. The rules are simple: follow &pizza on Instagram, tag three friends in comments, and sit tight for the announcement on Wednesday, September 12.

“We’d love all our fans to check us out on Instagram,” Rodriguez said. “It is where we share most of our breaking news like swag drops, partnership announcements, and fun stuff like this giveaway.”

Founded by Michael Lastoria and featured on PMQ’s cover in April 2016, &pizza has carved out its own hipster brand with authenticity.  The pizzeria has four values: celebrate individuality; be personal; make it fresh; and elevate everything. &pizza upheld these values by giving free tattoos to longtime supporters, crafting their own branded clothes, and even providing a personal number that anyone can text.

“People can also interact with us via our text-personality called the Pizza Plug — seriously! Text us at 200-03 and you can talk to us for real,” Rodriguez said.
