Los Angeles-based FAT Brands has debuted its 10th multibrand concept with the opening of the first combined Round Table Pizza and Marble Slab Creamery in Oakland, California. FAT owns 18 restaurant brands, including Fatburger, Johnny Rockets and Fazoli’s, and it’s now focused on pairing its assets to create maximum customer buzz—in this case, tapping into the classic combo of pizza and ice cream.
For the newest co-branded location, Marble Slab Creamery has been built into an existing Round Table Pizza, offering its homemade ice cream with free mix-ins and shakes in a variety of flavors alongside the pizzeria’s menu. “Co-branding continues to be a key growth pillar of FAT Brands,” says David Pear, president of Round Table Pizza. “The new Round Table Pizza and Marble Slab Creamery co-brand is a testament to this and our commitment to creating the ultimate guest experience with food combinations that are complementary to one another—the velvety sweetness of Marble Slab’s ice cream and the refreshing contrast of the rich, cheesy goodness of a Round Table Pizza.”
Since its founding in 1959, Round Table Pizza—inspired by the honor and revelry of the Knights of the Round Table—has grown to about 400 restaurants across the United States. The chain claims to be “Pizza Royalty,” citing its dedication to using high-quality meats and a signature three-cheese blend for hand-crafted pies with “legendary toppings” layered to the edge of the crust. Meanwhile, Marble Slab Creamery has been an ice cream innovator for more than 40 years, embracing a frozen-slab technique to combine its small-batch ice cream with free mix-ins.
