Round Table Pizza Employees Answer the Call to Aid Children in their Communities,
Raising $135,000 for Children’s Miracle Network

Concord, CA — During the month of April, Round Table Pizza employees banded together to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, an alliance of premier children’s hospitals throughout the United States.  The fundraiser, organized by Round Table Family Charities, was the second in as many years.

The spirit of giving was fueled by the spirit of competition as restaurants across the Round Table Pizza nation challenged each other to sell the most balloons.  The result was an estimated $135,000 raised to benefit children in need of medicine and hospital care, nearly double the mark Round Table Pizza employees set the previous year.

“My crew was excited about the cause,” says Restaurant Manager Lucky Singh, whose restaurant in Dublin, CA achieved top honors for selling the most balloons of any company-owned restaurant.  “I am from India where many children can’t get the medication they need, so I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to help.”

Lucky inspired friendly competition within his own restaurant, offering incentives to employees who sold the most balloons.  The cause was so infectious that one employee, Caiban Krommenhock, sold an estimated 800 balloons himself.  Even neighboring businesses joined the charge.

“It was a team effort and everybody helped,” insists Lucky, crediting his crew as well as Area Manager Travis Allen and Director of Operations Gregg Fleury who, he says, set the tone.

Mike Drust, restaurant manager of the Round Table Pizza on Grass Valley in Auburn, points out another key to the equation, “Without the customer, we don’t sell balloons.”

Mike’s restaurant, owned by Sisco Enterprises, earned the distinction of selling the most balloons of any franchised Round Table Pizza restaurant.

Mike also offered his crew prizes for selling the most balloons, but notes how the cause itself is what most inspired people to action: “Once the balloons started going up on the walls, everybody wanted to get involved.”

All of the money raised will go directly to Children’s Miracle Network.  In addition, the funds will stay within the community that donated them, going to a local allied hospital.

“I’m incredibly pleased at how the Round Table Pizza family rallied behind this cause,” says Rob McCourt, president of Round Table Pizza and Round Table Family Charities board member.  “Next year, we’ll reach even higher.”
