A new competition show on YouTube promises a chance to win “the greatest prize in the history of reality TV”—one Pretzel Crust pizza from Little Caesars.
Pretzel Crust Island, which debuted on April 22, features four “contestants” taking part in “challenges inspired by real Pretzel Crust superfans.” The gloriously silly action is overseen by host Flula Borg, a German actor, comedian and musician.
The teaser on YouTube says the show will be marked by “challenges, alliances, betrayal, drama, friendship, fandom and one very, very German host.”
Competitors are described as Ruth, a retired librarian; Meghan, a dog trainer; Dale, an entrepreneur in a business suit; and Craig, a musclebound personal trainer with an abundance of competitive spirit.
Fans can vote in the comments on who should move on to the next round and win the Pretzel Crust pizza. Customers can also earn rewards toward a special product bundle for $12.99 that includes one Pretzel Crust pizza, a box of Crazy Puffs, and two 20 oz. Pepsis by using code ISLANDVIBES on the Little Caesars app. They’ll also get 20% off Pretzel Crust Pizza-related merch.
As an actor, Borg scored his breakout role in the 2015 comedy Pitch Perfect 2, portraying the leader of a German a capella group called Das Sound Machine. He has appeared in TV shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Workaholics, The Good Place and Silicon Valley.
Little Caesars brought back its popular Pretzel Crust Pizza on March 31, along with the new Stuffed Pretzel Crust variation.
Pretzel Crust Island appears to be a marketing first for a pizza brand. Will it inspire more “reality TV” competitions for restaurant chains?
