Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: A popular San Francisco pop-up will soon become a proper brick-and-mortar pizzeria.
Following in the footsteps of pizza concepts like Square Pie Guys, Jules Pizzeria, run by chef-owner Max Blachman-Gentile, will soon have a permanent location. Blachman-Gentile signed a lease at 237 Fillmore Street in San Francisco’s Lower Haight district, as first reported by WhatNowSF.
“The pop-ups have been great and very successful for us, but I am really excited to be in my own space and just do a lot more with the menu,” Blachman-Gentile told a separate publication, SFGate, about the big news.

Blachman-Gentile has deep roots in the pizza industry. Per SFGate, his career has included stops at La Morra Pizzeria in Los Angeles, as well as celebrated pizza spots like Emmy Squared, Emily and Roberta’s.
“Blachman-Gentile’s stint at Roberta’s was especially influential for his longing to open a pizzeria due to its stellar food offerings set in a fun, casual atmosphere,” SFGate wrote. “With an extensive knowledge of bread making and pizza preparation under his belt, launching Jules…last August was a no-brainer.”
The decorated background has led to a unique style of pizza, wherein Blachman-Gentile borrows traits from New York and New Haven-style pizza and adds a “California twist.” The chef told SFGate that the brick-and-mortar shop will feature six rotating pies, including several that established a following at his pop-ups across the Bay Area. Those pies include the Spicy Ronny, featuring Calabrian chili and mushrooms, and the Field Dream with charred corn, Thai basil, lime and shrimp dust.
The restaurant, which Blachman-Gentile hopes will open in February 2025, will also reportedly serve rotating entrees and sandwiches.
