According to a report from TheBramptonNews.com, “Officers from Peel Regional Police will be teaming up with Boston Pizza on May 24 and 25, 2007, to raise money for Special Olympics Ontario in “Police…Serving You”. Law Enforcement Officers will lend their support at all Boston Pizza locations across Ontario. Officers will partner with servers, hosts and staff to collect donations.”
The article said, “This is a province wide fundraising event for athletes in Ontario with intellectual disabilities involved in sports. Special Olympics Ontario relies heavily on the generosity of individual and corporate sponsors to help raise the $6 million needed annually to sustain program growth.”
The report stated: “From May 1 to 25, 2007, Boston Pizza restaurants across Ontario also invite their guests to donate a “toonie” for a paper torch, representing the ‘Flame of Hope.'”
