“Every Sept. 11, Big Bill’s New York Pizza in Centennial hosts Day of Giving to benefit the JoAnn B. Ficke Cancer Foundation,” reports DenverPost.com.

“JoAnn Ficke, who succumbed to cancer in 2007, was the wife of pizzeria owner Bill Ficke, a former assistant coach of the Denver Nuggets. The $120,000 that was raised this time around was recently distributed this way: $50,000 went to the Rocky Mountain Bone Marrow Transplant Patient Assistance Fund; Cancer League of Colorado received $30,000 to give to local lymphoma researchers; Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance got $30,000 to help patients meet their living expenses; and $10,000 will fund awareness-building and patient assistance programs at the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance.”
