According to the Sacramento Bee, “They went old school – really old school – in crafting the signature art piece at downtown Sacarmento’s soon-to-open “mermaid” bar complex.”

“A ceiling mural that’s a rock-themed takeoff on Michelangelo‘s masterpiece “Creation of Adam” originally was to be produced by computer imaging. But project owner George Karpaty wanted a classier look and hired Stockton artist Carlos Lopez  to hand paint the 18-by-48 foot piece depicting the hand of God holding out an electric guitar. Lopez ended up using some of the same techniques Michelangelo employed to paint his fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel five centuries ago.”
