FRANKLIN, OHIO—According to a report from middletownjournal.com, “Casey Cole is hoping to get more than a ‘Coke and a slice’ when he flies to the Big Apple tonight for the New York Pizza Show.”

The article said, “Casey, a 20-year-old manager at Pisanello’s Pizza on Main Street, will compete in the “acrobatic freestyle” and “biggest stretch” pizza spinning competitions.”

Winning either contest will secure him a spot on the U.S. Pizza Team and an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.

“I hope to win,” Cole said, unabashedly in the article. “Unless something crazy happens, I plan on winning.”

Pisanello’s owner Tom Combs is one of Cole’s biggest supporters. He showed him a video of professional pizza spinners after he saw the Carlisle graduate experimenting with dough tossing in the window of his Franklin store.

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years and Casey is a natural,” Combs said. “I’m really amazed by him. He’s got a good shot at winning.”

Cole says he’s come a long way since he first started spinning dough in the window of Pisanello’s a few years back. He placed in the top ten in two competitions in Las Vegas last year.

A video he sent to the organizers of the New York Pizza Show, a trade event for pizza makers, won a him free trip to New York City, hotel stay and limousine ride to the show.
