This National Pizza Month, Pizza Pizza is delivering a slice of happiness to a number of children across Canada. Throughout the month of October, Canada’s leading pizza chain will be donating a portion of proceeds from its most popular menu item to raise money for its annual Slices for Smiles fundraising campaign in support of Children's Miracle Network. The company is rising to a new challenge this year, with a goal to raise more than $350,000 for the 14 Children's Miracle Network member hospitals across Canada.
All traditional Pizza Pizza restaurant locations across Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia will participate in the campaign, which started in 2007 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the company. All funds stay within the communities in which they were raised and go to the local Children’s Miracle Network member hospital.
“We are pleased to have Pizza Pizza and its customers join us once again in helping to save and improve the lives of children in communities across Canada,” said John Hartman, Chief Operating Officer, Canada for Children’s Miracle Network. “We are very thankful for the company’s contributions to Children’s Miracle Network in years passed and are excited to be working with them again this year.”
Each day, there are over 4,900 children who receive medical care from Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals across Canada. Making a donation to Slices for Smiles helps support research and training, purchase of new equipment and pay for uncompensated care.
“Giving a donation to Slices for Smiles is a very small way to make a big difference in the life of a child,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. “With the help of our customers, passionate franchisees and their employees, we hope to deliver many more smiles as a result of this year’s campaign.”
Pizza lovers can support the campaign by walking in to their local Pizza Pizza location throughout the month of October and picking up a medium cheese or pepperoni pizza. Customers can also get involved by purchasing a $1 smile icon in store, or by adding a donation to orders placed by phone, online, and through the Pizza Pizza Smartphone app. Last year, Slices for Smiles raised $300,000, for a total of more than $1.3 million since the campaign's inception.
