(Press Release) DETROIT, MI, July 10, 201–The new Detroit Style Pizza Co. became an overnight success as more than 150 pizza lovers converged for its recent Grand Opening events in Clinton Township and St. Clair Shores. The events introduced Metro Detroit to the pizzeria’s globally-recognized award-winning recipes. Detroit Style Pizza Co. was founded by World Champion Pizza Maker Randazzo and his mother, Linda Michaels, to bring the World’s Best Pizza to their hometown after winning the industry’s most sought-after awards at the 2012 International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas.
“We want to thank everyone who came out to try our recipes. The turnout was amazing, and all the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone loved our pizza,” said Randazzo. “We’re proud that so many people said so many wonderful things about us. After trying our recipes, some customers were getting on their phones and saying ‘Hey, you have to get over here and try this pizza.’ As a pizza chef and business owner, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
Customer favorites included three of Randazzo’s most unique specialty pizza recipes: the Margarita in the D Pizza and two World Champion pizzas, the Chicken Caesar Pizza and the Tangy BBQ Chicken Pizza. Detroit Style Pizza Co.’s own gluten-free recipe, created by Randazzo to give celiac disease sufferers a great-tasting pizza they can enjoy, was also a hit. One customer remarked that it was the best gluten-free pizza she had ever had and promised to share it with her gluten-sensitive friends.
Grand Opening attendees signed up for the free Detroit Style Pizza Co. VIP Club, which entitles members to special discounts, deals, free food and free birthday pizzas; and at least two local celebrities joined the celebration: kids got to take photos with PAWS, the Detroit Tigers baseball team mascot; and St. Clair Shores Mayor Kip Walby was present for the ribbon cutting a few days prior. Some customers took home prizes such as tee shirts and gift certificates.
“The most amazing part is that customers didn’t just come in, eat their free pizza, and leave. They made a point to tell us how delicious our food is, to congratulate us on our grand opening and to tell their friends and families about Detroit Style Pizza Co. Some ordered pizza to go, and others returned later in the day to order dinner,” said Randazzo. “With customer feedback like that, we know we have fantastic recipes to share with the community. We look forward to getting to know our customers better and serving the world’s best pizza.”
