Plant-based sausage will now be a fixture on the menu at Pizza Hut restaurants across Canada, the company has announced.

Pizza Hut Canada, which has 450-plus stores, said it is adding Beyond Meat’s plant-based sausage as a permanent topping. Last summer Pizza Hut stores in Edmonton and Toronto tested Beyond Italian Sausage Crumbles, and it was a hit, the company said. “After seeing great excitement from Pizza Hut fans [in these cities] … we’re beyond thrilled to give Canadian fans everywhere the opportunity to try and fall in love with these Beyond Meat menu items,” said Amy Rozinsky, Pizza Hut Canada’s head of consumer marketing.

The meatless protein was created exclusively for Pizza Hut Canada. Customers can add the plant-based sausage crumbles as a topping to any pizza. Additionally, the Beyond Meat sausage shows up on the Great Beyond, a specialty pizza topped with meatless sausage crumbles and veggie toppings including red onions and banana peppers, as well as in the Italian Sausage Alfredo Loaded Flatbread (also featuring roasted red peppers, a dairy-based alfredo sauce and mozzarella) and the Beyond Creamy Alfredo pasta dish, which includes onions, mushrooms and mozz.

To promote the meatless options, Pizza Hut will give away free medium Great Beyond Pizzas in an Instagram contest. To qualify to win, customers are asked to post a comment on Pizza Hut Canada’s Instagram page about their “little flexes in life,” such as finding a sock at the bottom of the drawer or successfully parallel parking in one attempt.

Meanwhile, back in the USA, Pizza Hut has tested plant-based pepperoni, but no nationwide launch has been announced.
