“Each lunch hour for the past week, the line of customers at Broadway Bar & Pizza in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, stretched through the store and outside. Residents were coming to the restaurant for pizza, but they were coming for a cause as well.”

 

“Restaurant management had decided to donate money earned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day to The Community Table, an Eau Claire nonprofit agency at 320 Putnam St. dedicated to providing meals free of charge to residents in need. The Community Table officials will use the money to purchase food to be prepared for those meals. The goal was to raise $4,000. By Thursday morning, Rachel Keniston, who oversees The Community Table, said $3,300 had been raised. ‘The restaurant has been packed and the line has been out the door,’ Keniston said of the crowd at Broadway Bar & Pizza. “The support for Community Table in Eau Claire has been amazing.”
