A new pizza war is getting hotter than a brick oven — with a restaurant featured in the HBO hit “Entourage” saying competitors are trying to cash in on his signature “bar pie,” according to the Daily News.
“Eddie’s Pizza in New Hyde Park, L.I., registered the phrase — describing a pie with a cracker-thin crust — in federal court in 1992.
Now owner Joseph DiVittorio is suing three other Italian restaurants, arguing they are copying him and could confuse customers of his eatery and food trucks.
“Over the years many Italian restaurants and pizzerias have attempted to trade off of the fame and notoriety associated with (Eddie’s) Bar Pie,” his lawsuit states.
DiVittorio, who did not return a call for comment, demanded his competitors “deliver for destruction” all signs, flyers, menus and promotional materials that say “bar pie.”
