“With 40 years tucked neatly under his belt since he opened his first store, Pizza Baron owner Chuck Tompkins has seen a lot.Tompkins remembers a time, for example, when hot wings weren’t exactly, well, hot,” according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

“I used to buy whole chicken to make our fried chicken, and I didn’t get the idea for chicken wings until 1980,” Tompkins said. “It’s funny because we literally gave them away for our Family Sunday special. Now they cost twice as much as any other part of the chicken to buy.”

Chuck has also seen many locally owned pizza shops come and go — especially once the big national chains started coming to town. Through it all, however, his original Pizza Baron store has managed to survive.”
