According to a news report from mercurynews.com, “Pizza My Heart, the Bay Area chain that caters to surfers of both the ocean and Web variety, took top honors in the third annual West Coast Pizza Championships in Los Angeles last weekend.”

“The restaurant won “Best Classic Pizza” with its Capitola Heirloom Pizza, featuring organic heirloom tomatoes and ricotta cheese. The Big Sur 40 Clove Pizza, loaded with whole roasted garlic cloves and portabella mushrooms, took first place in the “Best Gourmet Pizza,” said the story. “And executive chef Leah Scurto finished second in an “Iron Chef”-style contest with a buffalo chicken pizza.”
