FRANKLIN — Casey Cole is a world champion.

According to a report from Middletownjournal.com, “The Pisanello’s Pizza chef returned home from the World Championship of Pizza Makers in Naples, Italy, with that distinction after the U.S. Pizza Team took first in the acrobatic pizza spinning competition.”

“I guess you can say we are world champions now,” Cole said in the article. “Italy was great. It was a unique experience and very different.”

The article said, “Cole traveled to Naples after winning a spot of the U.S. Pizza Team when he took first in acrobatic pizza spinning at the New York Pizza Show earlier this year.”

According to the report, “The 20-year-old Carlisle graduate took up spinning pizza dough when Pisanello’s owner Tom Combs saw him creatively tossing pies in the window of his Main Street shop. Combs said Cole always has been confident of his abilities.”
