According to the New Haven Register, “They have long been fired up in New Haven, and more recently in Fairfield and Manchester, and the coal-fired ovens at the heart of Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana have been lit once again, this time at the eatery’s newest location at Mohegan Sun.”

“The restaurant’s owners are betting the pizzeria will hit the jackpot with patrons at the casino resort. Pepe’s opened at Mohegan Sun Wednesday and, despite the different location, has striking similarities to the original New Haven landmark that still serves thin-crust pizza on Wooster Street. Pepe, an Italian immigrant, opened the original Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana at 163 Wooster St. in New Haven in 1925. He moved it to its current New Haven location at 157 Wooster St. in 1938,” the story said.
