According to BizJournals.com, “Pizza rivals Pizza Hut and Papa John’s are battling to be No. 1 on 1-11-11.”

“Papa John’s says it will commemorate Jan. 11 with a special offer –a large one-topping pizza for $11 and a second large one-topping for 11 cents more. That’s two pizzas for $11.11. Jim Ferdenzi, director of operations for Papa John’s North Carolina division, says the price offer is good for only that one day for delivery and carryout customers. “It’s our way of saying thank you to brand new and brand loyal customers,” he says. Louisville, Ky.-based Papa John’s (Nasdaq: PZZA) has 18 locations in the Triad region and more than 2,600 stores across the U.S. It is the third largest pizza company in the U.S. behind Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza.”
