Ipack-Ima Spa and BolognaFiere Group present a new exhibit dedicated to foodservice in-store processing and packaging and retail logistics platforms, sided by conventions and workshops.

Pack&Tech Retail is the new show dedicated to foodservice technology on stage at Bolognafiere exhibition complex from September 10th to 12th 2008.

The event, organized by Ipack-Ima spa and BolognaFiere Group fills an important gap in the Italian and international exhibit offer in the segment of processing and packaging technology for foodservice at retail.

For over 32,000 retail shops in Italy the fresh products department – Bread and bakery, Cold cuts and cheese, Delicatessen, Meat and Fish, Fruit and Vegetables – processed and packaged at distribution platforms or in-store, is a key competing factor. By monitoring processing and packaging, large retail store chains can have more control on product quality, optimizing product flow and improving the system’s efficiency.

International distribution chains will also be invited to attend the exhibition. The biggest European retailers have pioneered the launch of ready-made meals on the market; for example, Tesco launched its brand Fresh & Easy in the USA offering a wide and diversified choice of fresh products.

At Freschissimo Pack&Tech Retail retail distribution operators (large-scale distribution, large specialized retailers, discount markets, packaging and logistics platforms, distribution facilities) will have the chance to see the top offer in machinery, equipment, containers, materials, accessories and services for foodservice processing, packaging and transportation.

«Pack&Tech Retail is a show, says Ipack-Ima Spa CEO Guido Corbella, dedicated to decision-makers involved in foodservice purchase and management. The project is based on a careful assessment of retail issues and consumers’ trends, which show a marked tendency towards healthy and tasty products; fresh ready-made products are a key component of new food habits. Based on our target, it was only natural to set up a partnership with BolognaFiere Group: not only do we organize a number of exhibitions on Bolognafiere’s fairgrounds; BolognaFiere has also a long-standing experience in shows dedicated to retail distribution, Marca and So Fresh being outstanding examples. Freschissimo Pack&Tech Retail will be staged every two years, but we are considering the possibility to organize the 2010 edition in conjunction with So Fresh, offering the domestic and international distribution market an all-comprehensive event dedicated to foodservice management».

“The new exhibit, remarks BolognaFiere CEO Michele Porcelli, serves a key segment for the region’s economy; Emilia-Romagna is internationally renowned for packaging technology.

Pack&Tech Retail joins a series of events of great resonance addressing different aspects of the same market, like MARCAbyBolognaFiere, the only exhibition in Italy dedicated to private labels in cooperation with the largest distribution and retail chains, and SO FRESH, the fresh food products conference and exhibition organized by BolognaFiere.

This is why Bolognafiere has become the exhibition complex dedicated to the distribution and retail market. Freschissimo Pach&Tech Retail will thus have great resonance in the retail business community and will create new interesting business and promotional opportunities for Made in Italy products on an international level. Freschissimo Pach&Tech Retail will be Italy’s first event dedicated to fresh food products in-store packaging – featuring a strong demand for innovative technology – filling a gap in the exhibiting arena».

The exhibition will also give market players the chance to discuss, exchange ideas and be up-to-date on new market trends through a series of conventions and workshops. To help organize this aspect of the event, there will be a steering committee made up of outstanding characters from universities, large distribution chains, trade associations, consulting firms and service companies.
