A number of overseas food buyers will be coming to Brisbane next month to visit a trade exhibition and meet local suppliers.
According to Mr Peter Moeser from Austrade Brisbane the delegations are coming mostly from SE Asia & Pacific regions and will be looking for products for retail stores as well as foodservice outlets.
“There is no doubt that Australia has an advantage because of our clean green image and our proximity to the Asia-Pacific region. Of course Queensland is well placed to trade on those very advantages and is also well known through the holiday trade. Buyers from the Asia-Pacific region are regular visitors to Queensland and will be looking to develop new business relationships with new & innovative suppliers during their visit.”
At this stage the delegations are expected from Indonesia (Bali), Brunei and Fiji. Austrade’s Food & Beverage specialists from the following countries will also be attending – New Zealand and Indonesia (Jakarta). They will also be available to discuss opportunities in their respective markets with Australian food & beverage companies.
The Fine Food trade exhibition runs every second year in Brisbane and showcases the latest food, drink and equipment for industry professionals. It attracts thousands of buyers from the supermarket, restaurant, hotel and resort sectors.
This year the show will be running from 9-11 March at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organisers report that it will be the biggest ever, with around 300 exhibitors and 8000 visitors. Entry is strictly trade only.
