It’s easy to take your regular customers for granted, and many probably love your pizzeria so much, they don’t expect anything more than consistently good food and friendly service. But that shouldn’t stop you from showing your appreciation for their repeat business.

At Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom’s Wichita Old Town location in Wichita, Kansas, Joel Light has been dropping in for beer and pizza since the dawn of the 21st century. Moreover, he recently finished his 180th World Beer Tour at the restaurant. And on Saturday, July 20, the restaurant will commemorate that milestone achievement with a party in his honor.

The World Beer Tour is Old Chicago’s renowned beer lovers challenge. While every purchase is rewarded, Light has achieved an impressive feat of 180 completed tours over a 23-year period—totaling almost 20,000 beers since his first visit in 2001. That has earned Light a one-of-a-kind celebration at Old Chicago and tickets to cheer on the Wichita Wind Surge, the local Double A baseball team.

“Joel has been a joy over the years and a true rock star!” said Jeff Hotze, general manager at Old Chicago Wichita Old Town. “We are thrilled to celebrate his remarkable accomplishment. We encourage beer lovers everywhere to participate in the World Beer Tour challenge to experience brews from across the globe and get rewarded, though Joel’s record will be tough to beat!”

Old Chicago’s World Beer Tour highlights the taproom’s extensive selection of local, regional and global beers. There’s no time limit to complete the World Beer Tour; each beer purchased counts as a point, with up to four points allotted per day. Guests can earn unique rewards at milestones, around every 15 beers.

After completing 10 tours, guests achieve VIP status and have their name engraved on a 25-ounce beer stein kept at Old Chicago. They also get featured in the Hall of Foam. VIPs who complete 40 tours receive a custom Old Chicago leather jacket.

At Light’s level, guests can expect a unique celebration, the company said.

To participate in the World Beer Tour, guests can join the OC Rewards Program and embark upon a journey to sample 110 beers available at any Old Chicago location.

Founded in 1976, Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom has more than 72 restaurants in 24 states nationwide. The brand complements its food menu with a vast selection of craft beers, a concept differentiator to this day.
