PHOENIX (August 17, 2010) – In an effort to be more eco-conscious, New York Pizza Department (NYPD Pizza) has introduced an innovative green pizza box to all 10 of its Valley locations. The new box is not only recyclable, but also multi-purpose, making it extra environmentally friendly.
NYPD Pizza is the first pizzeria chain in the nation to transition from traditional pizza boxes to the GreenBox™.
Traditional pizza boxes are often too big to fit into trash cans or too bulky to store in refrigerators. The GreenBox™ easily collapses into half of its normal size making disposal much simpler and creating a convenient leftover storage container. The GreenBox™ also boasts a perforated lid that handily tears apart into four disposable plates, eliminating the need for additional paper waste.
“We were immediately sold when we heard about the GreenBox™,” says Rich Stark, CEO of NYPD Pizza. “We can’t wait to introduce it to our guests and hope that we can pioneer its use in the Valley.”
The GreenBox™ was created by William Walsh, CEO and founder of New York-based ECOvention, LLC to help preserve natural resources and deliver a more functional product. While traditional pizza boxes are typically manufactured from 30 percent recycled material, the GreenBox™ is made from 100 percent recycled material.
