According to NTNews.com, “More than 500 people have joined an online mutiny against what they call “extortionate” prices of a local pizza shop in a small Territory town.”

“Annoyed Katherine locals have set up a Facebook group called Eagle Boys Too Expensive For Katherine. They’re cranky that pizza in the newly opened shop costs almost twice as much as it does in Darwin. Eagle Boys is advertising on its website that a large classic pizza, picked up, costs $7.95 in Darwin – and $14.95 in Katherine. Other Eagle Boys in more geographically remote locations are also less expensive than Katherine. In Alice Springs the same pizza costs $8.95, and in Longreach – 1200km by road from Brisbane – it’s $10.95. It’s understood that the Katherine manager is meeting the bosses today to talk about pricing. Eagle Boys national office chief executive, Todd Clayton, in a statement yesterday said Eagle Boys was founded in regional Australia, and was proud to operate in locations ‘most multi-national fast food brands avoid’. He said regional stores had to transport much of their fresh ingredients by refrigerated freight.”
