Columbus, Ohio, has a thriving pizza scene, but there’s only one Mikey’s Late Night Slice. Well, that’s not strictly true; there’s a bunch of them—nine, to be specific. What we meant to say is that, as pizza brands go, Mikey’s is one of a kind.

Now there are two more are on the way, which is good news for Ohioans who like their slice with a side of cheeky—maybe even a little naughty—humor. Mikey’s says it’s bringing the party to two new Ohio locations: the Water Street District in Dayton, Ohio, and The Galaxy at Polaris in North Columbus, marking eleven shops for the beloved, off-kilter brand.

Customers in those areas will get to try unique specialty pies like the Spicy-Ass Pepperoni, the Plain-Ass Pepperoni, the Thicc-Ass Pepperoni, and the Vegan Fake-Ass Pepperoni, among others. And, yes, there’s a Fake-Ass BBQ Chick’n pizza for vegans, too.

In other words, Mikey’s is an adventurous brand with personality, thanks to founder Mike Sorboro and his team of merry-making pranksters. It even lays claim to offering the “hottest pizza in the world”—the Fiery Death, loaded with peppers straight from Hades and “not for the faint of heart.”

As co-owner Jason Biundo told PMQ Pizza for a cover story back in early 2017, “We were always irreverent and off-the-wall ourselves, so this was just a reflection of who we were. We make pizza the way we like to eat it. We stay open late, and we like to make people laugh. And we’ve stuck with that.”

The new Dayton location is expected to open in late 2025, followed by The Galaxy at Polaris store early next year. In a press release, Sorboro said, “We’ve always been dedicated to delivering unforgettable experiences, whether you’re out for a debaucherous night or looking for a sensible lunchtime pie. We’re beyond excited to bring the Late Night Slice flavor to Dayton and Polaris and hope you are too.”

In addition to Mikey’s trademark irreverent attitude, both locations promise late-night hours, full-service bars, an inclusive atmosphere, and 18” New York-style pizzas served by the slice or whole pie.

Zach Graham is senior vice president of commercial real estate and leasing at Crawford Hoying, co-developer of Dayton’s Water Street District. He said the district is “rapidly growing into an entertainment hub for downtown Dayton.”

“Mikey’s will be a wonderful complement to the vibrant establishments located within the district, including the recently opened Pins Mechanical Co., Foundry rooftop at the AC Hotel and Day Air Ballpark.”

While beginning as a downtown Columbus late-night food staple, Mikey’s continues to expand outside of the city to reach its clientele through all stages of life. Late Night Slice started venturing into the suburbs by partnering with Pins Mechanical Co. on their Bridge Park and Easton locations in late 2024, and now they’re heading for The Galaxy at Polaris.

The latter is “a mixed-use development which will have over 600 residential units and over 130,000 square feet of commercial space upon final buildout,” according to Franz Geiger, managing director of N.P. Limited Partnership, Polaris Centers of Commerce. “Our goal with The Galaxy project is to bring the best of class in restaurants, especially local favorites like Mikey’s, to a suburban location that is yearning for organically grown restaurants, not national chains.”

Mikey’s is about as organic as a pizza brand can get. At PMQ, we do miss its early days, when its social media feeds were packed with laugh-out-loud memes about pies like the Loaded Mr. Potato Head (“Go Home, Potato Head. You’re Drunk”) and Groot’s Broccoli and Cheddar, inspired by the giant tree creature in Guardians of the Galaxy. But at least Pizzaface, Mikey’s hairy-legged mascot—just bristling with raw sex appeal—and the company’s famous Unicorn Sauce are still around.

The brand has also branched out with promotions like Lil’ Slice Sunday, where kids can build their own pizza for $6.99. As one recent Instagram post noted for Mother’s Day, “You could get her flowers or buy her jewelry, but what Mom really wants is an ice-cold adult beverage and 15 minutes of some GD peace. Let us help with that!”
