Brits love a big breakfast. And if you think that means a nice, healthy bowl of oatmeal and half a grapefruit, consider their slang term for the morning repast: a fry-up. Even at its simplest, an English breakfast usually consists of bacon, sausage, fried bread, fried eggs and beans (yes, we said beans). And if they’re feeling sporty, they might even toss in some fried lamb kidneys and cold smoked herring.
Now the Manchester airport location of British fast-casual chain PizzaLuxe has put a new twist on the classic fry-up: the pizza breakfast bowl. According to the Manchester Evening News, the pizza breakfast bowl features pizza dough baked into a bowl shape and filled with English favorites like bacon, sausage and eggs. The eatery also offers a regular 9-inch pizza topped with similar fry-up ingredients.

Mind you, PizzaLuxe didn’t invent the pizza breakfast bowl. The mad scientists at Dells Pizza Lab, located in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, introduced their own American version in 2017 (below) with the usual pizza toppings, plus the option to add eggs and seasoned potatoes.
Not that there’s anything wrong with pizza for breakfast. Any wanker will tell you that. In fact, nutritionist Chelsey Amer told the Daily Meal back in January that pizza isn’t necessarily an unhealthy way to kick off your morning. “You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” Amer said.
“However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning,” Amer added, no doubt earning a legion of new best friends on college campuses nationwide. “Plus, a slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash.”
