“Lisa and David Cross had decided to open a new pizza and grill restaurant in a plaza off Route 25, but they were missing one key component: a name,” according to The Union Leader.

“I wanted something fun,” said Lisa Cross, the former owner of an ice cream restaurant on Squam Lake.

“I thought about my husband’s stack of Archie comic books, and we wanted to get ‘cheese’ in there,” she said. “So we came up with Archeez.”

They had renditions of the Archie comic strip characters painted on the store’s sign and they decorated the small dine-in area of the store in red and yellow, and named dishes after the characters.”
