Former Chef Turned Publicist, Linda Kavanagh Joins The Team Of The Connecticut Restaurant & Lodging Show

March, 2008, HARTFORD, CT:  The Connecticut Hospitality Industry is gearing up for the 4th Annual Connecticut Restaurant & Lodging Show to be held October 6th and 7th at Hartford’s spectacular Connecticut Expo Center.   Building upon what was created back in 2005, the Connecticut Restaurant & Lodging Show (CTRL) continues to evolve as the most efficient and cost effective way to meet foodservice and beverage industry professionals, conduct business, and stay connected to an evolving industry.

This year, CTRL Director Jamie Swanson, teams up with Linda Kavanagh, the owner of MaxEx Public Relations LLC. Kavanagh, a long time devotee of the hospitality and former chef herself, will be heading up the promotional aspects of the show, utilizing her background in both the restaurant/hotel industry, as well as her expertise in Public Relations.

Since creating MaxEx, LLC, a boutique public relations firm which is dedicated solely to the hospitality industry, Linda continues to keep her finger on the pulse of thriving culinary cities, innovative chefs, and exciting talent and venues throughout the country as a respected writer for various publications including Food & Beverage International, Wilton Magazine, Fairfield Magazine, Excursionz Magazine (Food/Travel Editor), New England Hotel Magazine, Fairfield County Weekly, and several dot-com magazines such as Sogonow.com, Travelworldmagazine.com, and Culinarymenus.com. Linda has garnered numerous awards including The North American Travel Journalists Association’s Award of Excellence for General Trade Story, 4 years in a row.

Linda works within her industry to provide support as the director and publicist for Fairfield County’s largest food and wine show fundraiser, Fairfield County Eats!, which benefits the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.  She is a committee member for the CT chapter of The American Institute of Wine and Food, The American Liver Foundation, and The Human Services Council, where she continues to involve her industry in the support of these causes. As a frequent speaker at The Connecticut Restaurant & Lodging Conference in Hartford, CT and for many professional organizations such as Business Networking International, Entrepreneurial Women’s Network, The CT Writer’s Conference at Norwalk Community College, and the Coastal Fairfield County CVB, Linda addresses the issues pertaining to the promotion of the hospitality industry and the responsibility that food journalists and publicists have to the hospitality industry as a whole.

An active member of Meeting Planners International and The North American Travel Journalists Association and numerous other hospitality industry and journalism associations across the country, Linda continues to immerse herself in the various aspects of such an intricate and evolving industry – thus keeping her connected, providing support for her fellow hospitality professionals.

Kavanagh is excited to spread the word about The 4th Annual Connecticut Restaurant & Lodging Show. A broad spectrum of exhibitors is in place and eager to share their products, services, and ideas with the talented array of restaurateurs and hoteliers throughout CT and even our New England neighbors. Best of all, the show provides and opportunity for the industry to come together as a whole to enjoy and improve upon the business of hospitality.
