TOLEDO, OHIO – June 9, 2008 – Marco’s Pizza (Marco’s Franchising, LLC) introduced a new specialty product in stores this month: the Taco Pizza and Fresh Pack. Marco’s Italian take on the taco concept is available on Crispy Thin or Classic crust with ground beef and onions.
The pizza comes with a Fresh Pack of taco trimmings: diced tomatoes, black olives, cheddar cheese, lettuce, sour cream and jalapenos. These cool toppings are applied at home after delivery (or immediately prior to serving for in-store dining) to retain freshness and help keep the pizza hot.
“With the Taco Pizza and Fresh Pack, Marco’s combines hot and cool ingredients at just the right time to deliver everything people love about a taco and a pizza in one bite,” said Mike Jaynes, Marco’s vice president of sales, research and development. “We introduce a few specialty pizzas for a limited time each year. It is a fun opportunity to use new Marco’s ingredients to create fresh, Italian-style pizzas.”
Jaynes oversees new product development for Marco’s, a process that includes creative brainstorming among Marco’s veteran leadership team and franchisees, informal product testing and customer focus groups. Marco’s previous specialty pizzas include the Steak and Cheese Primo and the White Cheezy – pizza with a flavorful blend of white cheeses like mozzarella, feta and parmesan – which earned a permanent place on the Marco’s menu.
Marco’s Taco Pizza and Fresh Pack are available until the end of August in all Marco’s stores – more than 170 locations in 14 states. For a complete list of locations, please visit www.marcos.com and select “locations”.
