U.S. Pizza Team Stuns Italians
How proud and appreciative we are of our U.S. Pizza Team members and Sponsors for their extraordinary accomplishments at the 2003 World Pizza Championship in Salsomaggiore Italy. Once again, we would like to give a special thanks to our sponsors. Without them, none of this would be possible.

Congratulations to team member George Giove for winning second best pizza in the world, just four points away from an inconceivable upset. George is a shining example of how great things can happen when you simply go for it. Brian Edler got an unexpectedly high finish in dough stretching earning a strong third place medal and more glory for the Americans. Michael Shepherd won 5th place in the fastest pizza maker competition, just seconds away from medalling. Jack Atlas' pizza was outstanding. Jack's pizza finished with the second highest score of any American ever competing at the WPC. PMQ would also like to congratulate Michael Speck for his champion attitude and performance despite having the airline lose his ingredients before the competition. All of our competitors were champions. For all the glorious details see page 54.

Food Network producing special on US Pizza Team
Look for a one-hour U.S. Pizza Team Special later this year on the Food Network. Their cameras shot miles of film as the crew followed us from New York to Ohio and then on to Italy. The special will document each team member as they competed during the 2003 campaign. The 2004 U.S. Pizza Team Acrobatic Tryouts will be held on August 2-4, 2003 at the Western Food Show Pizza Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Endless Pastabilities
PMQ's big focus this issue is pasta and the business of pasta. This will be the official kickoff to our ongoing construction of the ultimate pasta resource center at PMQ.com. Do you have any advice for making this the best possible resource for pizzeria owners? Products? Video? Recipes? Anything of useful or practical interest to our readers regarding pasta? Let us know and we can incorporate it into our online pasta resource center.

PMQ Teams up with Reed Exhibitions
