KFC announced a new-to-the-U.S. item this week: Chizza (pronounced “cheet-za”), which is said to be a hybrid between fried chicken and pizza.

The Chizza, which first debuted on KFC menus in the Philippines in 2015, features two fried chicken filets topped with zesty marinara, melted mozzarella and crispy pepperoni—something that sounds an awful lot like a Chicken Parmesan.

The limited-time offer will hit menus nationwide on Monday, Feb. 26. To support the activation, KFC will transform a Manhattan storefront into a “Chizzeria” pop-up, where some customers will get to try the product for free.

“Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better—the Chizza,” said Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer at KFC. “The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world—try it while you can!”

KFC also launched an advertising campaign featuring social media influencer @GrannysOffHerRocker (who has 1.3 million followers on TikTok) as an “Italian ‘Nonna’ assuring viewers KFC’s new menu item is not pizza—it’s Chizza.”

Chizza will be available as both a standalone item and as part of a KFC combo meal. It is being rolled out alongside Blueberry Lemonade, which KFC says is the “perfect fruity and tart drink to refresh the taste buds while enjoying the Chizza combo meal.”

As others have noted—including KFC itself, via press release—the Chizza is reminiscent of another limited-time offer from KFC: The Double Down, which also featured fried chicken filets, bacon and either mayo or spicy sauce.
