Pretty much any sandwich can be turned into a pizza (and vice-versa). And Jet’s Pizza, headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, has done exactly that with its new Italian Hero specialty pizza.

Available in May and June, the Italian Hero features mozzarella, salami, ham, tomatoes and mild peppers and comes with a side of Italian dressing to be drizzled on top. It’s available in small and large Detroit-style deep-dish and hand-tossed round offerings.

The limited-time pie can be purchased online nationwide using the code HERO.

If the LTO proves to be a hit with Jet’s customers, it could become a permanent menu item, according to John Jetts, president of Jet’s America, Inc.

“Inspired by one of our most popular Jet’s subs, we introduced our favorite Italian toppings to our Detroit-style pizza, and, in my opinion, created a real hero to possibly join our specialty lineup,” Jetts said. “These limited-time offers are a great way to introduce new flavor combinations and get a feel for what our customers would like to see added to the permanent menu.”

Founded as Jetts Party Shoppe and Pizzeria in 1978 by brothers John and Eugene Jetts, Jet’s Pizza now has more than 380 stores in 19 states.
