Is bacon ever a bad idea on a pizza? Little Caesars will reportedly find out in a trial of a new specialty pizza at select locations.
According to BrandEating.com, the Detroit-based chain is testing a new Bacon Crust pizza at several stores in the Indianapolis area.
The large round pizza features a bacon crust and caramelized cheese. It’s available in two versions: the Bacon Crust Pepperoni for $8.99 and the Bacon Crust Pepperoni & Pineapple for $9.49.
Little Caesars turned 65 years old this year and remains the No. 3 pizza chain in the U.S. But Patrick Cunningham, the brand’s VP of U.S. development, said it has aggressive plans to keep growing. “In 2024, we celebrated numerous multiunit development agreements to expand Little Caesars with like-minded franchisees across markets like New York City, Dallas, Tampa and other target cities for QSRs,” Cunningham told PMQ last month.
In that interview, Cunningham made no mention of testing a new bacon crust LTO. However, he added that menu innovation figures into the company’s overall plan for growth, noting, “We look forward to building upon the success we had this year rolling out new menu products, like Crazy Puffs, and LTOs that satisfy the cravings of today’s consumers.”
