Imo’s has been celebrating its 60^th anniversary this year and, as part of the occasion, has released a limited-edition keepsake poster for its fans. The nostalgic artwork was designed by local St. Louis artist and Imo’s Pizza fan Dan Zettwoch, who also created the 60^th anniversary commemorative pizza box. Fans can raise a square to six decades of the Original St. Louis Style Pizza and receive their complimentary poster for a limited time only with a $30 in store or online order.

The poster pays homage to the humble beginnings of Imo’s Pizza the year 1964, when Ed and Marge Imo opened their first parlor. The artwork details vignettes from the first Imo’s Pizza parlor at Thurman and Shaw avenues including the tackle box used as the first cash register, use of Provel, and more. The design incorporates the tried-and-true, instantly familiar red and green color palette Imo’s has proudly used for 60 years in tribute to the Imo family’s Italian roots and business beginnings in The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. 

The poster giveaway is the latest offering in the beloved St. Louis institution’s year-long 60^th anniversary celebration that began with the commemorative pizza box designed by Zettwoch. Imo’s spiced up its “314 Day” celebration with Old Vienna, LLC’s, Red Hot Riplets and quickly followed by launching Red Hot Riplets Wings as a special limited-time menu item.

St. Louis-style pizza is characterized by a stretchless cheese called Provel, a combination of provolone, Swiss, cheddar and liquid smoke. It has a smoky taste that mimics the flavor of pizza coming out of a wood-burning oven. Beyond the Provel, St. Louis’ round, cracker-thin pies are cut into squares (called party or tavern cut) and adorned with a slightly sweet sauce and toppings all the way to the edge so that every bite is covered.
