“The G8 Summit was moved from Chicago, but the city still will host the NATO Summit in May, and NATO leaders will get an advanced taste of what to expect next week. Local pizza chain Lou Malnati’s was shipping pizzas and other local foods to Belgium Tuesday to showcase Chicago products and help tell the city’s story in advance of the summit in May. The NATO host committee requested they donate the pizzas for a NATO preview event in Brussels taking place March 21 and 22. The event will be showcasing Chicago products to help to show all that the city has to offer prior to the NATO Summit in May.”
“Lou Malnati’s will also ship Garrett Popcorn, Berghoff Root Beer, Fisher Nuts, Manny’s potato pancakes and corned beef and Vienna Beef products, as well as other Chicago favorites, for the event. The food isexpected to arrive in Belgium Wednesday and will be cooked for the preview next week. Rick Malnati said the company is honored to represent Chicago. They have a shipping operation already, Malnati said, so it was a natural fit for them to handle the request.”
