According to TheNews-Messenger.com, “Warm weather helped draw at least 975 people to the Best of Sandusky Pizza Challenge on Sunday, one of the largest crowds in the annual event’s history, organizers said.”
“Admission fees and corporate sponsors donations helped raise money for the Chamber Foundation of Sandusky County’s “Raise the Dough” scholarship program during the event at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds. Scholarships will be awarded to one student from each of the 10 area high schools. ‘It’s just wonderful,’ Barb Mason, co-chairman of the Pizza Challenge Committee, said of the turnout. ‘We wanted to put the focus on the youth and the community. It’s gone over really well.'”
“Participants bought admission tickets to sample pizza from nine vendors — the most the event has ever had — and vote for the pizza place they liked the best in the People’s Choice Award, Mason said.”
