With the Olympics kicking off this week in Paris, pizza restaurants are joining in on the celebration with specials and promotions for the duration of the Summer Games, taking place July 26 to August 11.
The Costa Mesa, California-based California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), with nearly 200 locations nationwide, is offering several promotions on drinks and desserts, including:
- Free Coca-Cola on opening day: During the Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 26, guests receive a Coke on the house with any pizza purchase.
- New Red, White + Blue Butter Cake: Throughout the games, CPK is serving up a patriotic twist on one of its popular desserts. The limited-time Red, White + Blue spinoff features CPK’s signature warm Butter Cake, topped with a vibrant mix of fresh strawberries and blueberries, plus white vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream.
- All-Day Happy Hour: CPK is offering an all-day happy hour for the entirety of the Olympic Games. Guests get a 50% discount on a special selection of “Red, White + Blue” drinks, including the Red-Berry Sangria, Sparkling Mojito and Blueberry Lemon Drop.
“Given our history of globally inspired menu creations, we love seeing the world come together for the Olympics,” says Paul Pszybylski, VP of culinary for California Pizza Kitchen. “But, of course, we’re cheering for the hometown heroes. So we’re giving all guests nationwide delicious ways to get patriotic at CPK—with our new Red, White + Blue Butter Cake (so craveworthy it should win medals) and the all-day Red, White + Blue Happy Hour.”
Meanwhile, over at the Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, which serves pizzas at its 21 locations in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Georgia, customers will be rooting for the United States to take home gold—for both patriotism and the drink specials. Whenever Team USA wins a gold medal, pints of the brewery’s King’s Gold beer will be $5 for the rest of the day.
Iron Hill’s Gold-Medal Flight—a flight of four gold-medal winning beers, including Vienna Red Lager, Pig Iron Porter, Russian Imperial Stout and King’s Gold—will be on sale for $10, while a Gold Medal 4-Pack will sell for $14.25. And members of the brewery’s King of the Hill loyalty program can also take advantage of double points on food purchases every day during the Summer Olympics.
